Pakistan on Friday promised to assist Nigeria with the development of such sectors of the economy as agriculture, economy and power.
The Pakistani High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lt. Gen. Agha Farooq (retd.), made the position of his country known when he paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, where he explained that Pakistan could assist Nigeria on irrigation development and power generation for fertilizer plants and small scale industries.
A statement from the Information office of the Pakistani High Commission on Friday in Abuja said the High Commissioner was accompanied by his personal assistant, Furqaan Hassan, and the Regional Head of Peel Aston Global Resources Limited for Africa, Khomeini Bukhari, during the visit.
The statement revealed that the envoy expressed his country’s commitment to the prosperity and progress of Nigeria, adding that Pakistan had been cooperating with Nigeria in the areas of education, agriculture and the economy for a long time.
The envoy said, “Pakistan has already built bridges and is looking to build new bridges as we very much honour and believe in the priority attention being given by President Muhammadu Buhari to agriculture, education and the economy. Pakistan is there to help the growth in this progression, and to also contribute tangibly.”
