We found a great article listing 20 “Springtime” Uses For Vinegar (note that the title is a general reference to “spring cleaning” but these uses will be fine for year-round tasks!)
There are a few great tips here we had not seen before: The fruit fly trap, flower preserve and more. The article (link at the foot of my commentary) also contains a great recipe for a citrus vinegar surface cleaner.
Vinegar has been widely used for all manner of culinary, household and medicinal purposes since ancient times. Because vinegar is cheap – generally way cheaper than many chemical cleaning fluids – these strategies should save you money. Plus, vinegar is considered much more eco-friendly, quite possibly better for your health and safer around kids and pets.
Here’s a further tip I just discovered via Wikipedia: “Malt vinegar sprinkled onto crumpled newspaper is a traditional, and still-popular, method of cleaning grease-smeared windows and mirrors in the UK.” [1]
