Yolk color is one of the internal qualities of an egg, egg with bight yellow yolk is more preferred to egg with orange color yolk. The color of the yolk can be determined through the management practices, the feed given to the birds will determine the colour of their yolk.
Maize, contains
pigments which gives the yolk bight yellow color, but wheat does not have this pigment. However, there are some materials you can add to the feed that will give the yolk bright yellow color irrespective of the feed material, maize or wheat. these material are;
- Sunflower Petals
- Marigold leaves
- Alfalfa
- Orange peels
- Algae
- Carrot
- Annatto Seeds
- Chilli pepper.
