Good day guys, I have often been asked to give an estimate of the feed layer will feed on during their 70 weeks they will be staying in your farm. That’s what I want to talk about today, we charge for information like this but I am giving for free on Greenhealthyfarm.com today. You can just appreciate me by commenting on my blog.
Assumptions:
The following assumptions will be taken into consideration
- We will be making the estimation for 100 layers
- The birds will be healthy all through their life time to consume on the standard daily quantity needed for growth and reproduction
- Each bag of commercial feed is 25 KG
- At 70 weeks, they will be sent to the market as ‘old layers’
THE TABLE BELOW SHOWS THE QUANTITY 100 BIRDS WILL CONSUME FOR DAY 1 TO DAY 140(20 WEEKS)
Age of birds
End of week
| Feed Consumption
Kg/bird
| Quantity / 100 birds
Kg / 25kg bags
| |
2 weeks(starter mash) | 0.20 | 20 | 4/5 bag |
4 weeks(starter mash) | 0.40 | 40 | 1 3/5 |
6 weeks(starter mash) | 0.65 | 65 | 2 3/5 |
8 weeks(starter mash) | 0.85 | 85 | 3 2/5 |
Total 8 weeks(starter mash) | 2.10 | 210 | 8 2/5*1 |
10 weeks(grower mash) | 0.90 | 90 | 3 3/5 |
12 weeks(grower mash) | 1.00 | 100 | 4 |
14 weeks(grower mash) | 1.10 | 110 | 4 2/5 |
16 weeks(grower mash) | 1.15 | 115 | 4 3/5 |
18 weeks(grower mash) | 1.15 | 115 | 4 3/5 |
20 weeks(grower mash) | 1.30 | 130 | 5 1/5 |
Total 9-20 weeks(grower mash) | 6.60 | 660 | 26 2/5 |
Total 1-20 weeks(starter & grower) | 8.70 | 870 | 34 4/5*2 |
- From the table, 100 pullets will consume 210 KG of Starter mash which will be 210kg/25kg = 82/5 bags of chick mash.
- 100 pullets will also 660 kg of grower mash between 9 -20 week which is about 262/5 bags of grower mash
- After 20 weeks when the bird would have started laying above 5% of the total no of bird (i.e. 5 eggs daily) it is standard practice that 200 layers will consume 25 kg of feed daily, that means ,100 layers will consume ½ a bag (12.5 kg )daily.
Based on the following analysis, below is a summary of the total number of feed 100 birds will consume in 70 weeks
Type of feed | Age range | Analysis | Total in bags |
Chick mash | Day 1- 8 weeks | See *1 in the table | 8 2/5 bags of chick mash |
Grower mash | 9 weeks – 20 weeks | See *2 in the table | 34 4/5 bags of grower mash |
Layers mash | 21 weeks – 70 weeks | ½ bag × 7 days × 50 weeks | 175 bags of layers mash |
TOTAL IN BAGS | 2181/5 BAGS OF FEED |
So guys, that’s it
